About Jesse

Smith & Company is owned and operated by Jesse Smith — a master carpenter, builder, and facilities professional with 25 years of experience. Jesse holds an unrestricted Massachusetts Construction Supervisor license (CS#115374) covering residential and commercial work, plus Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.

Facilities Director, Sankaty Head Golf Club (2019–2024): Jesse first came to Nantucket in 2007 for construction work and relocated full-time in 2018. At Sankaty Head, he built the facilities department from scratch — no CMMS, no standardized procedures, no formal systems existed before him. He managed 31 buildings across the campus, led a 7-person team plus seasonal labor and specialty vendors, and oversaw a $1.3M annual operations budget plus $800K–$1.2M in annual capital projects. He implemented MaintainX as a digital CMMS platform with standardized procedures, completed over 9,000 work orders, and passed every property inspection. He designed 141 architectural plans in Chief Architect, created 19 SketchUp 3D models and 15+ AutoCAD drawings, managed fire safety compliance across 7+ commercial buildings, and presented facilities reports to the board of directors.

Ocean View Builders (2013–2018): Jesse operated his own high-end residential contracting business in coastal southern Maine — Greater Portland and Midcoast region. He built houses on Maine's islands (Cushing Island, Chebeague Island) and throughout mid-coast and southern Maine, and assembled 30+ modular homes during his early career.

Design & Fabrication: Jesse's background includes work at Hoff Woodworking, Nantucket's premier cabinet shop, handling design from CAD to 3D modeling to optimized production. His finish work spans advanced stairs, railings, custom cabinetry, and Nantucket Historic District Commission (HDC) submissions.
